Send a Message Against Government through SMS or Email, and Enjoy 14 Years Imprisonment

Now, Government is going to punish the person who sends ‘ill-motivated’ or ‘indecent’, anti-government messages through Short Message Service (SMS) or Email under Cyber Crime Act and guilty person can be imprisoned for 14 years and Pakistanis living abroad will be deported from Pakistan if found sending provocative, indecent, and ill-motivated messages. What more can be expected from the government, now they have come up with another excuse to divert the attention of Pakistanis from many major issues like, price hike, SWAT situation etc.

One of my friends told me about this and I thought it’s just a joke but while browsing on the, I read this in a magazine ‘Flare’. This is not a joke but we can all laugh at it.  According to Government, these are anti-government people who are promoting hatred against the government for no reason.

Jail BarsGovernment talks about the democracy and everyone has the right to express whatever they want, for government or against government. And in a democratic country, people can be imprisoned for 14 years for saying something against the Government. Wow! How democratic! Government never passed some budget for people who admire their efforts for the betterment of Pakistan (well…I couldn’t see any. I think I am blind). The authorities should stop playing with the country and its citizens and concentrate on the real issues. Solve the issues and there will be no more ‘ill-motivated and indecent’ messages.

Social Networking Websites – Good or Bad?

You must be on at least one social networking website. These are the community websites who promise to connect you to the whole world. You can find people from every corner of the world. They can chat, share their pictures, videos.Social NetworkingThey can comment on each other status. In short you can be in touch with any one around the globe any time. But the question is, is it Good or Bad? Well I have my opinion. To me it’s good to some extent and bad to other extent.

Goods:

  • It’s good as you can be connected to the whole world and you can chat and share your stuff very easily with the other people.
  • It’s good as you get connected to some of your lost friends.

Bads:

  • The new generation is crazy about Social Networking Websites, they leave their studies just to make new friends and chat with them.
  • They spent their half time in front of computers leaving many important things behind.
  • On Social Networking Websites we can see some immoral and unethical pictures and that’s too bad.

Unless the use of time is proper, it’s good. As it is rightly said Excess of any thing is bad. So these are good unless they are being used for good purpose.

Hackers Attack on Twitter and Facebook

NEW YORK, 6th August 2009; On Thursday a hacker attack resulted in a shut down of two fast-growing social networking sites; Twitter and Facebook. In a status blog, Twitter announced that it had come under denial-of-service attack by malicious spammers. Brandee Barker, the spokeswoman for Facebook said that they were not very sure of what exactly had transpired but were looking into the issue with the urgency it deserves.

According to Ken Godskind, the Chief Strategy Officer of Alertsite, a web performance monitoring company, the outage at Twitter started at around 9am EDT (1300 GMT) although the problem is said to have started long before the outcry. This meant that a lot of Twitter users were in an inconvenienced position as users could not tweet and exchange messages on various topics or even about the Twitter problem.

The problem was still on at midday although by now the two social sites were functioning occasionally. Thus those who have subscribed to both sites could easily shift from one to the other depending on which one was working. Most the users expressed their disappointment and termed their predicament as that of feeling lost or hopeless for not being able to communicate with the rest of the world.

One Twitter subscriber Allison Koski from Manhattan narrated her ordeal, “I had to Google search Twitter to find out what was going on, when normally my Twitter feed gives me all the breaking news I need,’

Pakistan to Hit 22 Million Internet Users by 2013

Internet Usersa modern era and the one who is not familiar with is considered as Technologically Illiterate person. The number of Internet users is growing day by day and it is expected that Pakistan will have 18 to 22 Million users by year 2013 and the estimated number of broadband Internet users is around 4.3 million. Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is taking some very important steps lately and now working in collaboration with nstitutes to make the new generation aware of Internet.

Universal Service Fund (USF) is making considerable efforts to provide Internet to rural areas of Pakistan. Though, the density of Internet is somewhere around 11 percents but still it’s a good development because in 2000, Pakistan had only 133,000 Internet users.
